Attention is finite

12 June, 2007

We are reaching a point where the number of inputs we have as individuals is beginning to exceed what we are capable as humans of managing.

I tried to write a comment on Steve’s blog about this but I couldn’t think of anything that didn’t equate to “no, you’re just years behind everyone else”.

I’d like to know the first time this complaint was made, I’m sure it isn’t a new sensation.

Are there really more inputs are are we trying to do too much individually?

Probably sometime around the invention of the printing press.

Are there really more inputs? Well, the world’s population keeps going up.

Isn’t it just an excuse geeks use when they forget important dates? Or to buy some milk, or book a restaurant…?
