Any mail I receive that only contains Russian characters is spam. Ditto for Asian languages.
Either Gmail‘s spam filter has been loosened, or the spammers are getting better, but I’m getting a lot more spam in my Gmail inbox these days. Oh well.

It’s probably more to do with you having had the account for a while and it being ‘discovered’.
I don’t think so.
I regularly check my spam folder, and mails that were being caught before, aren’t now. No difference in headers or content. Something’s changed on the server side.
